16" Non-tuneable Bodhran

“Great instrument and beautifully made.” - Ashley H.

This is the ideal starter bodhrán for anyone looking to pick up the instrument for the first time.

The larger head with a 16” bodhrán produces stronger bass tones than the 14", and gives you a rich, full-bodied sound that really stands out. And the fact that it’s a non-tuneable bodhrán makes everything that bit simpler.

It’s made with hand-stretched, sustainably sourced goatskin, and comes with its own hardwood beater. And the rim is taped around its edges.

All of Paraic’s bodhráns come with their skin taped around the edges of the rim, as this extends its harmonic range and gives your bodhrán that distinctive bass sound that’s so particular to traditional Irish music.

This is a quality bodhrán at an affordable price, and is ideal for both beginners and for more experienced players.

Always Ready to Play

Non-tuneable bodhráns offer a no-fuss playing experience that means you can simply pick it up and play. The skin tension is fixed, meaning you won’t have to adjust anything before you start playing and ensures a consistent sound without the need for constant fine-tuning.

Hand-Stretched Goatskin

Our bodhráns are made from goatskins that are hand-cured and hand-stretched, and are each individually treated and conditioned without the use of chemicals. Because the sound you make depends on the quality of the skin you use.

Complex Bass & Tonal Range

All our bodhráns come taped around the edges, which helps to ‘dampen’ the tone, in much the same way that E rings do when used on a set of drums. This technique extends the harmonic range of the instrument and adds complexity to the bass tones.
