Not worth the money. Had change out the tuners to be able to keep in tune. I don't know what they mean by a set up. One of the brackets and screw was totally missing that holds the resonator on. The other resonator posts were all loose and coming out of the resonator. So I'm very disappointed in how the banjo is delivered. So plan on putting work into this banjo, diffenately cant play out of the box.

Hi Louis, your banjo comes fitted with quality tuners, among the most stable we’ve ever tested on a banjo. If you were having tuning problems, our customer service team would have sent you a return label so we could inspect it and sort things out, without you needing to buy replacement tuners.
It sounds like the small thumbscrew worked loose somewhere over the atlantic between Dublin and Connecticut. Check inside the gig bag, including the folds. As you know, customer service have already sent you a replacement.
Regarding the loose resonator posts you mentioned, these are mounting lugs, and they’re designed to allow a little movement so the holes line up with the thumbscrews. Once all four thumbscrews are fitted and evenly finger-tight, they clamp the pot and resonator together securely. With one screw missing, that mounting point is unsecured, which can leave movement in the assembly. We’ll give these fixings extra attention before shipping future orders. The Norseman Tenor Banjo Set (4-String, 19 Fret, Tenor)
Generally a fine instrument for sure. However, I was rather disconcerted by a loose screw at the bottom of the rim which I can't even tighten since it's covered by another metal part. Maybe that's the reason for annoying clanking (clattering, rattling) sound at certain fret and strings, especially the 4th fret of the 2nd string and the 7th fret of the 3rd string. It adds an undesired acoustic effect to whatever I play.

The Norseman Tenor Banjo Set (4-String, 19 Fret, Tenor)
Received my new banjo within 4 days of ordering back in November 2025. Arrived very well packaged and protected for the postal journey. A beautiful sounding banjo and very pleasing to the eye. Wasn't overly keen though with the strings fed through the holes for ball end strings in the tail piece. However No big issue I restrung the banjo. Several follow-up emails received from NcNeela checking all was well with my purchase, Great customer service. this is a well put together and well finished instrument at a great price. More then happy with my purchase. I would have no hesitation in recommending McNeela Music to any future customers.

The Norseman Tenor Banjo Set (4-String, 19 Fret, Tenor)
OKAY Folks,
Arrived in KC in a timely matter a few days ago, was well packaged without damage. The bridge etc.. were in the banjo case along with a strap, strings. a tuner and picks as advertised.
The neck had a backbow when received but was able to tighten the trussrod and eliminated that problem. I would put some oil on the trussrod openining , looked dry but did work. Takes an allen wrench and propably metric but found one to make ti happen.
It has taken a few days fo the banjo to settle in after SH. Not sure how old the strings are. might go with a slighter gauge such as a 38 vs 40 on the 4th sting and so on.
I ordered a new tailpiece because the clamshell bridge seemed inferior and rattled. It can be tightened however. The tailpice was stringed wrong also, had to fix that.
The wrench works for some things and not others like the armrest screws. One of the resonator screws is directly below one of the armrest srews which makes it impsossible to remove. I will move it.
It is a pretty banjo however and with some effort, can be tweaked to get a good sound. I have been playing and setting up banjos for 50 years. Mostly high quality American made .
This is Asian made with no markings as what country.
Setup: The haed was at 80 lbs and tightened to 90ish or a G sharp which is usually the standard here is the States.
The tuners were unusable on this one, seemed like 1: 1 vs 4:1 like advertised. I replaced with other tuners I had and it's now functional.
It is a tad heavy but shouldn't be an issue. The bridge seemed a little bulky and I put A used Gibson thinner bridge on it an it really improved the sound.
Overall: not bad, not a Clareen Gibson but I'm happy with it and the price was good when I puchased.
