“The New Approach to Uilleann Piping is excellent. I take one lesson at a time and heed the author's advice not to proceed to the next lesson until the former lesson is mastered. ”

Reviews for The New Approach to Uilleann Piping

"Of immense value to anybody learning the Uilleann Pipes. Nothing taken for granted beginning with the very basics and progressing very carefully. Very competent tuition." - Michael O'Heidhin, B.Mus, Cigire Ceol, An Roinn Oideachais, Music Inspector, Dept. of Education

"Besides possessing a rich and abundant knowledge of Irish traditional music, the Uilleann Pipes and the techniques employed in the teaching music, the author has thoroughly researched the manner and style of presenting the tutor and recording combination to suit the user. Carefully graded 'lessons' including music reading and piping functions in a cleverly designed programme together with the accompanying recording, make for pleasure and rapid progress. Skills are developed to enable pipers to utilise the great body of traditional music now written down and also that which is available on tape and record from famous pipers." - Thomas Mac Lochlainn, St.Killian's Vocational School, New Inn, Co.Galway

"The ideal tutor in the area of traditional music is one where a text is accompanied by sound recordings. This is particularly true in the case of the Uilleann Pipes which have so many sounds, nuances and techniques distinctive to that instrument. H.J. Clarke, with mature understanding and mastery of chanter technique has produced a very worthwhile guide for the Uilleann Piper. It will prove of immense help to students, particularly those who do not have the advantage of a personal teacher to pupil tuition." - Labhras Ó Murchú, An Stiúrthóir, Comhaltas Ceoltoirí Éireann

"We found by experience that this tutor is the best way of teaching and since we started using it six months ago, pupils have improved more than during the two previous years." Daniel Herve, Teacher, Paris Pipers Club
